Reach-iT FLOW is shipping now ...
Following the 5 year success of Wash-iT PRO, and learning from all the failures and shortfalls that customers presented to us, we present Reach-iT FLOW. FLOW is designed to meet the maturing market as more and more window cleaners understand pure water window cleaning, the idea of a totally 'dumbed-down' unit like we released in 2012 as Wash-iT PRO seems inappropriate. Now, with some small video training modules, you can be MORE PROFESSIONAL and get better performance from the advanced design.
Here are the amazing features that set FLOW apart from all other RO-DI systems for Window Cleaners :
1: SMALL FOOTPRINT
The base of FLOW is just 16" x 22" and, with the handle removed, FLOW stands just 32" tall ! (40cm x 55cm x 70cm).
This means it can fit in the backseat of a car, or, lying down, in the trunk of a small car.
We do this by using 2 x 21" RO MEMBRANES, instead of the 1 x 40" MEMBRANE that we used in Wash-iT PRO.
2: LIGHT WEIGHT
FLOW is just 50lbs (24kg) without water. One of the key design features of FLOW with regards the weight is the ease to drain it, so it is not always loaded with water when lifting in, and out, of the vehicle.
3: PRESSURE GAUGE
The easy-to-read Pressure Gauge is able to read both the static water pressure available from the spigot (tap), and the Operating Pressure while the FLOW is in pure water production.
You can switch between pressure readings with a simple valve on the back of the FLOW.
This is critical information for the operator to understand the performance of the HYDRO-BLADE, or pencil jets on the glass - quickly you will know which brush configuration to use with different water pressure, and whether you will need to use a Booster Pump.
4: DUAL TDS METER
The Dual TDS Meter has 3 possible 'ports' in FLOW to give you the following data :
a) TDS from the spigot (tap)
b) TDS from the RO (Pure Water) for the performance of RO and to determine if you can use FLOW in RO ONLY mode.
c) TDS from the DI (the water you will clean the windows with in RO-DI mode)
5: SEDIMENT and CARBON FILTERS
FLOW has clear housings for separate Sediment and Carbon Filters so you can see the fouling of the filters. The Sediment Filter is a 10", 10 micron spun fibreglass filter, and the Carbon Filter (to remove chlorine and chloramine) is a 10" granulated carbon filter.
Both filters are readily available from your local hardware store like Home Depot.
6: 'ZERO PRESSURE' RO-MEMBRANES
The most important part of any RO FILTER is the membrane that removes the minerals from the water. We have fitted FLOW with the most modern 'Zero Pressure' membranes compared to the 'Ultra-low Energy' membranes we have been using in Wash-iT PRO since 2012. The result is less pressure loss through the RO System, meaning more pressure for cleaning with your brush.
Depending on the water quality and the water pressure, you can expect to remove 90-98% of minerals from the source water!
7: EASY TO FILL DI TANK
The DI TANK is small, and convenient to re-fill - see the video link below.
8: CERAMIC VALVES
You will love this small distinction - we have added ceramic valves to the 'Pure Water Out' and 'Waste Water Out' outlets, to seal the FLOW from leaking in your vehicle in between jobs, and also for storing over winter. They are even color coded Blue and Red.
9: RO ONLY and RO-DI MODES
With such an efficient RO MEMBRANE, you are quite likely to be able to perform some, or all your work using RO ONLY mode, reducing your cost of DI RESIN to zero!
Simple valves on the back of FLOW give you the choice between RO ONLY MODE, or RO-DI MODE.
For those of you that are thinking of DI ONLY, we recommend you invest in one or two 1/4 cu ft DI TANKS - this is a more practical solution than using small canisters. This is one of the design changes from Wash-iT PRO, because many people had DI FAILURE from the DI ONLY MODE, due only to the small volume of DI Resin in the DI Canister.
10: EASY RO FLUSH
Under the FLOW, is another valve - and this is for the BACK PRESSURE and RO FLUSH. Simply turn the valve and FLOW will start flush mode, clearing the build-up of minerals against the membrane wall to waste. A quick FLUSH after each job, or 3-5 minutes at the end of the day will extend the life of the membranes.
11: ADJUSTABLE HANDLE
In consideration that there are short techs and tall techs, we made the handle of FLOW telescopic - you can pull it to your preferred length to get that 'balance' when you do need to move FLOW to a work zone.
Pull the handle completely out, and you can fit it in the tightest places.
12: ANTI-THEFT DEVICE
After seeing several Wash-iT PRO being stolen, we decided we did not want to profit from your misfortune, so we decided to give FLOW an anti-theft deterrent - it's a combination lock cable system so you can secure it to your vehicle, or even to a tree if you must leave it unattended !
13: TOOL BUCKETS
When you are a water fed window cleaner, you don't really have place for the 'little bits' - and so we put twin tool buckets on the side of FLOW for things like spare parts, universal taps, your blade for touch-ups, a microfibre cloth, etc
It's just a small touch to ensure you are efficient, and not running to and from the van.
14: INTERCHANGEABLE WHEELS
One of the biggest issues with Wash-iT PRO was the wheels breaking and not being able to be replaced, or interchanged without brute force with a hammer.
That's why FLOW wheels are held on with a circlip - meaning we can interchange the wheels as, and when we need. We will even include a circlip tool with your new wheels when you choose them.
15: INTEGRATED PUMP (optional)
All RO membranes have some frustrating weaknesses relating to their performance.
The performance of all RO's when the inlet water is at 39ºF is 50% that of the same membrane at 75ºF. This is due to the viscosity of the water being heavier and reducing the number of molecules that can pass through the tiny holes in the membrane wall.
Also, as the performance of an RO Membrane is directly related to the pressure difference across the membrane, the more hose and tube we use, the less pressure will be available at the brush. Add to this the need for 5PSI of pressure per 10ft vertical height to overcome the effect of gravity, a complex water delivery situation requires more pressure to effect the task at hand.
Additionally, with our commitment to your efficiency, we are very keen to have you use 'MORE WATER, LESS TIME' - however the more water you use, put simply, the more pressure you will require.
To overcome all these issues, you can use a BUFFER TANK with PUMP and PUMP CONTROLLER, and/or a BOOSTER PUMP. The economical Buffer Tank is an ATV Tank with built in 60PSI Pump from Tractor Supplies ($150), and the economical Booster Pump is a WAYNE PC4 Transfer Pump (available at Harbor Freight). With this in mind, we have designed FLOW to accommodate the WAYNE PC4 integrally - the 3 feet in the base of the PC4 drop into the base of FLOW and lock it into place.
16: LOADS OF ACCESSORIES
Now we have a LONG LIST - included with your FLOW is :
HANDLE KIT - easily add an additional handle to the front of FLOW for more ergonomic lifting in, and out of your vehicle.
HOSE ADAPTOR KIT - all the connectors you need to GHT and GARDENA fittings for the water supply and delivery of FLOW.
WASTE TUBE KIT - 10ft of red waste water tube to drain the water out of your vehicle.
LOCK AND GUAGE KIT - Anti-Theft Combination Lock Cable, and a MINI PRESSURE GUAGE that can be connected anywhere in your RHINO-TUBE, to understand better the pressure losses you have created in your hose/tube configuration.
FILTER WRENCH - for the weak-wristed, there is a tool to help you open the
SPARE PARTS KIT - From time to time, there will be some parts that we see may need replacing, and we will include them in this kit ...
WHAT IS AN RO ?
A Reverse Osmosis membrane allows water to travel through it in one direction, from a higher concentration of minerals, to a lower concentration of minerals.
It does this by pressurising the membrane, and 'forcing' the pure water molecules through the wall of the membrane, and forcing the concentrated mineralized water out a hose to waste.
How this applies to window cleaners, is the permeate (the pure water) is either spot-free or nearly spot-free. If it is nearly spot-free, pass this water through DI RESIN and it will be completely demineralised.
WHEN to BUY FLOW, and WHY :
The ideal, and foolproof filter to de-mineralize water is actually DI RESIN. The problem is that DI RESIN is a consumable, with the cost varying in proportion to both the flow rate and the TDS (the amount of minerals in the water needed to be removed).
We use an RO as a PRE-FILTER to RO to reduce the cost of DI Resin WHEN THIS MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE.
You do NOT need an RO because your TDS is over 150ppm - this is total BS.
You need an RO if your annual DI RESIN cost is projected to be over (say) $2000 - and then, you can reasonably expect to get a Return on Your Investment in one year. If you are happy with a ROI in 2 years, then a DI cost of $1000 per annum will be the mark for you to choose FLOW.
